What's going on in your neck of the woods?

Things around here have been a little hectic (I know, whats new?). I'm hoping that it will give me and my family a slower December. I tried this last year, although it was my first time I was attempting to change the hands of time and I did fairly well but, not well enough. So this year, I have really gotten on the ball and prepping for the Christmas month. My friend over at "Don't Pee on the Bee" gave a little report on a book she read titled "Hundred Dollar Holiday" by Bill McKibben. You know, a theory on getting the holidays to be less stressful, less money, less waste & more family togetherness, love & increase awareness of the true meaning of Christmas. Look HERE or HERE for more details. Life is too short to waste lovely time with your family ... right? RIGHT!

Now, who attempts to remodel their house right before Thanksgiving? We do! CRAZY, I know. But, it has to be done. For those of you that do not know ... this past February, I found THIS. Frustration, no doubt. Since the room is being redone, we decided to make an opening to that room (scrap, craft, activity room). Can't wait until it is done. It will all start here ....

Will keep you posted and show the end result.

Also ...

End of the soccer season party ... woooo whooooo!
While it was very entertaining, glad to have Saturday back.

And then ...

A princess birthday party at a friends house. Certainly, a dream come true for The Girl. Heck, a dream come true for me ... I couldn't have been happier to see the expression on her face when "Princess Aurora" walked through the door. (The Girl made sure that she corrected everyone when the Princess was introduced as "Sleeping Beauty"). A well spent afternoon!!

I have also been working on my picture/journal scrapbook.
Here are some creations I have done for my December Daily.
I am combining both Ali Edwards & Jessica Sprague's ideas on documenting the holidays day by day.
These are journal cut outs to post in a page or two.

December Daily inspired by Ali Edwards. Cut outs made on photoshop with Christmas designs by Gina Marie Huff.

My book will be 8 x 10. Each day will start with one of these:

Santa & Mistle Toe designed by Gina Marie Huff. December Joy journal card designed by Ali Edwards. Assorted fonts used for text.

Or one of these:

Christmas scene designed by me but the art work was done by Lily Designs from After 5 digital scrapbook website.
December Joy journal card designed by Ali Edwards.

Each page has a different design. Some pages will be done digitally and some the traditional scrapbook way. I am trying to keep it as simple as possible. When I complete the 25 days, I will post them all at once ... stay tuned!

beyond my wildest scrappin' dreams ...

This store is phenomenal and full of inspiration. They take unwanted garbage (usable garbage) and put it out there to create masterpieces! My brain went haywire while I was in there. So many ideas at once. I bought a couple of things for dirt cheap. If you are in the area and you love to create ... check it out. They even do birthday parties!! I think I may have my next birthday party there!!! reCreate ... where creativity and conservation meet. Eco Art Center ... does it get any better? Love it!

Out of hybernation ...

Not really sure what to say about this movie. Maybe I missed something, didn't read between the lines enough, or maybe I just didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. There really wasn't much excitement. It was actually really sad. Lots of anger and frustration, followed by destruction. The Girl fell asleep, The Boy and Hubs both said they didn't like it. While I was not intrigued by the story line, I did like the make up of the "Wild Things". They were cute - in a weird sort of way. This movie is definitely a rental and don't watch it past 5pm, you may fall asleep too. If you saw this movie:

What did you think??? I hope I am not ruining it for anyone. Oh, I forgot to mention that I did enjoy the music - gonna look for the soundtrack ... great tunes.

On a different note, ran into reviews on this book:

Can it be done? Unclutter in one week. Sounds too good to be true but it has rustled my feathers and I think I may have to check it out. What's on your book shelf??

thanks for stopping by,

She

has always had a way of making me laugh.

I need to stop watching these. I get this glimpse of myself holding another baby. They can be so cute and they certainly bring adventure into your life but then they also take away your sleep, cry for unknown reasons, end up with allergies that are life threatening, draw all over the walls with permanent marker ... I think I will just stick to watching videos. ;o)

I did this project, A Week in the Life with Ali Edwards last year right around this time. It was fun. I did it with large envelopes last year so that I could put things I collected along the way like tags, receipts, etc... inside. I decorated the inside of it with two of my favorite catalogs - Urban Outfitters & Paper Source. I did the cover with a Starbucks bag I had laying around. Attached pictures to the front & back of the envelopes and called it a week! It's fun to look back and compare my weeks. My friend Jess, reminded me about it and I think, now that I am feeling a little bit better, I will get started. Stay tuned for more on this, later this week.

I need your vote!!

Well, assuming that I will be better by Friday, I have my 20 year high school reunion. 20 YEARS!! Unbelievable but true! So, I'm in no shape to go look for something to wear and yes, I am a procrastinator and left it for last minute. Anywayyyyy ... I bought this dress a few months ago and have yet to wear it. I had accidentally thrown the instructions away and had a little difficulty making it look right. Little did I know, on the website, there are a million ways you can put this thing together ... at least with the right accessories. So, what do you think? Is this appropriate for the reunion. Keep in mind that I am only going to the social night before actual reunion party because I have to work the day after the formal reunion and seeing that it is out of town, it isn't going to work. So, picture a bunch of late 30's people in a bar, socializing. I'm from a cow town so, I might actually be overdressed. Never-the-less, I'm taking votes:

Style #1 - like but maybe not dressy enough.

Style #2 - Maybe a little to casual - cute for later use, maybe.
Style #3 - cute, my dress is a lighter gray. I do like this style, but where is the rest of the black tie thingy? That is pretty doggone long. I may have to cut it.
Style #4 ---- I am not a fan of the stockings & shoes ---- just the dress. The hair isn't working for me either, but, I like the way it criss-crosses in the back.
Style #5 - I even like the way she has her hair - my hair would never do that - I'm more thick, curly, frizzy hair.
Okay, you have until Thursday to put your vote in. If you want to know if there are other dresses available for contemplation ... no, there isn't ... so ... whaddaya think? Oh, BTW, my dress is gray with a black tie thingy.
